16/8 intermittent fasting
Anyone do this? I’ve tried 24 hour fasts, I can’t handle them. I really like eating within an 8 hour window, and fasting for 16. So I eat between 10 and 6pm. Wake up at 9 or so. Its easier to slum down this way, but it feels like it also lowers inflammation.

Anyone else have any cool tips to improve on this? I want to reduce insulin spikes, and go gluten and dairy free. I’m 40 year old woman 135 pounds, 125 being my goal. I hear eliminating sugar helps with pre-menopause.

Re: 16/8 intermittent fasting
I'm late 60's and within 4lb or so of my ideal weight. what do I do?

put more hours between meals and try to keep it to 2 meals a day.

don't keep anything tasty sitting around the house.

skipping breakfast is key for me. then again I'm retired....

Re: 16/8 intermittent fasting
I’m on keto and it’s simple with high fat. No hunger.

I eat between one and 7

Sometimes one big meal a day.

I always stay less than 20 net carbs. Always more than 150 grams of fat and always more than 135 grams of protein.

65 -75 percent fat
25-35 percent protein
5-10 percent carbs (from vegetables - spinach, broccoli and avacado)

**the key to keto are electrolytes. I take a teaspoon a day of sea salt. Potassium, calcium and magnesium supplementation as well.

Instead of coffee in the morning I have homemade chicken bone broth with Coconut oil, fresh garlic, fresh rosemary, Himalayan pink salt, black pepper and turmeric. It is an amazing wake up beverage.

Re: 16/8 intermittent fasting
You are long off from the big egg sleep..don't worry about that. You are also not fat given what you said. If you want to be healthier try a fasting mimicking diet once a month for a few months. Then go 23/1. Eat up whatever you want in that one hour. Whatever you eat unless it is pure kfc grease droppings will have you losing weight, if you need to. Do you need to? You might not need to lose that much.

I’m about 3 mo in on 16/8. 12# down and holding with no exercise or change in diet. I find myself less hungry throughout the day and sometimes only eat one meal.

Are you wanting to fast to lose weight or something else like autophagy?

You can eat something fatty or drink coffee to get over the hunger just no protein or anything insulin triggering which cancels the positive effects of the fast.

As your body adjusts to running off fats rather than simple carbs it gets easier.

I did like a 21 hour "fast" the other day for the first time and I had a little bit of milk around lunch and that was it.

I didn't get any intense hunger pains or get wobbly but at the 21st hour I gave in to a yummy tuna fish sandwich with lots of mayo and low carb bread.
