I believe liberalism is a by-product of self loathing. These people will never be happy and they have been convinced that their unhappiness is a result of other's prosperity.

We have generations and generations of broken homes that lead to broken individuals. These individuals grow up and never address the real issues of why they are unhappy to begin with so they look for someone to articulate some kind of answer for them. They are gullible and unfortunately vulnerable to these pied pipers who promise them goods and services that will supposedly fill the void they have suffered with.

They are now at a tipping point where the free goods and services are no longer helping to alleviate the pain so they are being convinced that the entire capitalistic system based on the white-european business model has to be overthrown and re-written entirely.

These are scary times and they will not end well.
