Mandela Effect: Whipped Cream
I’ve read about Mandela when first reported years ago. I’ve been on the side of “memory issues” and misremembering.

There is a lot to this, much more than one can go in to with one post, however, I experienced a Mandela effect that I’ve not read about before.

I saw a whipped cream commercial and I read the name on the can and it struck me: What?!

I looked at my wife and I said, “Hey, you know that ready whip?” She said “Yes.” I asked, “Can you spell ready?’

She said, “R E D D I “

I said, “Right! Now, spell whip?”

She continued, “W H I P”

I said, “Right! Now, watch this....” and I replayed the commercial and told her to read the can, it says: Reddi-Wip

REDDI-WIP.

Not Reddi-Whip???

I looked on the interwebs. No “Reddi-Whip” is available. Only REDDI-WIP with no ‘H’.

So with both my wife AND I having the same false memory, I thought I’d ask my internet family what they remember?

Cheers!
hf

It is Reddi Whip.

If you find an old can by some miracle, it will say Reddi Whip.

All this crap is web based only (with current changes actually being implemented in the real world), they are screwing with us.

"When everything the American people believe is a lie"

It is Looney Toons, and if you find an old VHS it will still be Looney Toons, not Looney Tunes. That cartoon series got bought out and all the old stuff destroyed and replaced with new.

Long story.

FACT: It is all web based, and intentional real world tampering. You have to find the old to prove it, and that is getting harder and harder to do.

Re: Mandela Effect: Whipped Cream
This is a textbook example of faulty memory rather than 'Mandela' and I'll show you why-

The correct spelling of that product would be

READY WHIP

If you ask anyone (literate) to spell those words they'd get both right because you've separated the word from the product, like you did with your wife. So she's right about how to spell 'whip'.

In context, why do you think that they intentionally misspelled 'reddi'?

As a marketing gimmick. Obviously misspelled word is kind of catchy and if you're trying to get someone to buy your product over another, anything that put eyes on the product is a win. Now think this through. The advertising exec who came up with the pitch to change the spelling on the name of the product to catch eyeballs is now suddenly concerned about correct spelling of the second word? Especially when all you need to do is drop the silent 'H'? Logically Reddi Wip makes more sense than Reddi Whip.

I remember it as Reddi Wip because I was a stock boy in a grocery store back in the mid 70's and teenagers used to come in and huff the propellant out of the cans so we were always getting return for cans that didn't work, or they'd leave them in the cooler with the tops off and dribble on the nozzle. People started calling them wippits. In fact they buy the little gas cannisters and fill balloons with that gas and it's referred to as 'wippits'.

YMMV

No. That would just be gas lighting. Not a big deal.

These are things on shelves in your own home.

Depends....Never was. Always as is now, Depend.

Fruit Loops. Nope. Always was Froot Loops.

Looney Toons. Nope. Our copies changed to Tunes. Never was Toons according to people that don't get the effect.

Redi Whip. Never existed. According to now, it always has been Reddi Wip.

Bragg's vinegar? Never was. Always was Bragg vinegar. Changed in my cupboard here.

And on and on.

There are residuals in old advertisements, and souvenirs and written books and articles, and art pieces for most of the changes.

Sure, sometimes people simply don't remember correctly. But the real ME's are usually proven with some aforementioned residuals.

The truth shall set you free.

goofy thum

Now I'll get more red because people who don't get it, well...They just don't get it.

I remember it as READY WHIP in the early 1960s.

The product was invented in 1948 way before this 'Slang" language came into existence.

It was Reddi Whip - and I'm not even sure about the "Reddi".

Also, it has always been Looney "Tunes"... For me anyway. I have never seen it any other way.

Yep. According to info now, it was never anything else.

Funny though, I remember it being Redi Whip. Not two d'. But I rarely ever bought the stuff, and most seem to recall the 2 d's.

Just start typing Reddiwhip in Google. It wants to auto fill with whip, but then all the results are Reddiwip. They must have rebranded and made it wip.
