Re: I owe $973,822 to the IRS for 2018, and you want a refund? FUCK OFF
If I didn't have three kids to claim this year I would have owed the IRS about $900 on $89,000 joint. Of course, I wouldn't have been claiming three on my withholding either and would have paid more in so I still might have been okay. My fax prep guy told me to go to 0 withholding, take the hit weekly and that way I don't have to worry about tax bills. Since we are on track to make about $125,000 this year, I think that's the route im gonna take.

Last year I made $75,000 joint with my wife and my return was about $5000. This year we are getting $4000. Next year I'll be happy if we get $3000 back since we'll be making a lot more.

I don't know if I could be considered to be paying my fair share though. I get paid biweekly and about 25% of my check goes to taxes and about 5% of my check goes to insurance. The government got to use my money throughout the year and with the child tax credits will give most of it back.

I work 6 days a week 10 hours a day. My wife works about 12 hours a day, 5 days a week. Looking at what we paid in vs what we are getting back, we are a net drain on the economy.

I don't know what the answer is. I would be okay with a flat tax and no return at the end of the year as long as the IRS didn't come back at tax time with their hands out wanting more.

Thanks for creating jobs, employing our citizens, being generous (I saw what you wrote about the 10k bonuses), and doing your part to make America great.

Thumbs
 Quoting: ScrumpTheTexan

More than likely that is bologna.

He says he employees basically secretaries you think a business owner is going to give out 10k in bonuses to basic labor workers?

If you do you are gullible.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 42079668

It's actually pretty common from the people I know.

My girlfriend, who is in customer service in the company she works for, received an $8.5K bonus in December as part of the company's profit sharing plan. She also received a total of $11.2K throughout the year in quarterly bonuses/profit sharing distributions.

I know quite a few people that have similar situations.
 Quoting: Callin

I employ exactly 0 secretaries. I actually care about every single one of my employees and work hard to allow them to grow their skills and advance within our company and their career as a whole. I spend 4 hours per week with open office hours mentoring anyone who cares to ask.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77114938

People who work in an office, not getting their hands dirty, mostly working on the phone are exactly secretaries.

0 skill

And sure as fuck don't deserve a 10k bonus.

lemme explain douche.

you made 4 million dollars FOR DOING NOTHING. earning interest on your investments.

while OTHER PEOPLE had to WORK THEIR ASSES OFF for one one hundredth of the money you got for free.

and people like you, then COMPLAIN about the fact, you had to pay the government mobsters, and blame the slaves, because you see them as blame-able, weak, scapegoat.

you are gang signaling to the government mobsters 'hey guyz, let's GET 'EM, GET THEM, NOT ME'

DO IT TO THEM, NOT ME.

I got the impression that the money was worked hard for, through business, so taxing profits.

Most big companies pay bonuses to their executives in stock or other means where they don't have to pay taxes. Loophole, but these guys are on the run from the government their whole lives. It's expensive to follow the law and have no blood on your hands and sleep at night.

Congrats on being successful, contrary to what president Trump said in the SOTU speech we live in a partially socialist country. The chances of that changing anytime soon are zero, in fact you will be paying more rather than less.

This op if he's legit does not "work"

He has people doing the "work" for him ( i use the term loosely because working in an office tapping on a computer and talking on the phone is not real "work".)

He sits back and gets rich off the backs of others after making a lucky investment years ago.

Why? What's he done to you for you to want him to lose it all?
 Quoting: Jacek Coltutt

Why should one person be allowed to make millions of dollars every year?

I very highly doubt their "skill" will pay that much.

Most of the skill in a business is at the bottom, the ones who do the work and actually make the money.

Just because some guy invested money and took a risk on the backs of employees does not give him the right to make millions and millions of dollars each year.

I feel the same way about athletes celebrities, even big youtube people.

No one person needs that much money.

And it's usually luck that gets someone in that position.

Like I said they may have invested in a company and took a risk but at the end of the day it was a gamble, and thousands of people fail at it each year.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 42079668

I literally do the work and make the money. You can poll any of my 37 employees. They will tell you I work harder and produce more value than any of them.

I’m allowed to make millions per year because people voluntarily hand me their $ for a product that benefits them.

I bootstrapped my company- never accepted investment and always paid fair wages. My company benefits are the envy of all- salary, 4 weeks paid vacation, Cadillac insurance (medical vision and dental), 401k marching, work from home, monthly drunken outings.

Yes, I was very lucky. So what? I didn’t get to choose whether I was lucky or not.

I built my company with my bare hands. I lost the love of my life, most friends and health because I worked 80-100 hours per week for years and years. I was/am obesessed with my job and I’m scared that if I stop working as hard as I have been then i might have to lay off staff. I won’t let that happen.

Overall I think you have a jaded view of “rich” people. I’m not George Soros. I’m a MAGA lovin’ red blooded American who is pissed that we give “refunds” to millions of Americans while I’m paying in 37% and don’t get any free shit in return. We should all pay in so that we all have the same understanding of what’s happening in this country.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77114938

hey ac, seriously, I know people like you and the RVA area, and we know how things run. Do you feel any, lets say, guilt, or feeling bad about that much money? I could do that, I see the way people make the cash, and I am cool with people making it like that (and I am talking about sales dudes, etc. when you have to hustle to make that dolla...). I just feel like I am getting over on people when I get cash for stuff. Ok, let me try to explain, I help out my bro in law car repair shop with their pc's. I like going over and talking crap and learning about what they do... I usually fix whatever they have going on (stupid quickbooks btw, always seems to be having issues every 6 months or so...) and when I do fix anything either hardware related or whatever, they try to give me 100 bucks, I only took it 2 time (been over about half a dozen times to fix little things over the years...) and feel bad about it, I really don't want the cash, just like doing stuff like that in the off hours. I see what he makes, and damn, I told him he should adopt me :) but anyway, if you like doing stuff, how do you get over that feeling? I could easily get paid bank for helping people with insurance and easy software stuff, but I would feel guilty about taking cash for it. Like I said, I do like to smoke and think about this every once and a while lol
 Quoting: ptuck874

That’s pretty deep for a GLP post. I like you.

No, I don’t feel guilty because I’m providing a valuable service. I gotta eat too, right? I feel extremely LUCKY and even BLESSED. I also view this luck as a RESPONSIBILITY- to my employees, to my customers and to my family.

If I were to charge 10x my current prices then yeah I’d feel guilty. But I sell my products for a fair price that is demonstrably valuable to the customer. Nobody returns the product saying oh that’s not worth $200.

I hope that helps maybe a little with your personal quandary. Making money isn’t inherently bad. It’s how you do it, how you treat people and how you help others that counts.

Everyone pays federal taxes and that is a fact.
If you buy something, the taxes they pay are figured into the cost of the product you purchase.

Now, at the founding of this country, that would have been a different story.

A homesteader grew and hunted for his own food.
He was not forced to pay other peoples taxes in the food he got nor the items he handcrafted himself.

Totally different situation today where we help pay rich people taxes when they trickle the costs down to us in everything we buy.

You don’t know me, how hard I work or what my skills are. My skills enable ten thousand small business owners to work on average 5 hours less per week to run their business. That’s 5 more hours with their children and wives and husbands.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77114938

You don't have any skills.

You got lucky starting a business plain and simple.

I tried starting a business to do roadside auto repair.

After taking out a 5k loan from the bank for tools supplies and advertising, and spending a month advertising on every medium I could find on the internet guess how many calls for service I got?

I can rebuild engines and transmissions, i can take an old junker car and make it run like new again.

What are your skills again?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 42079668

Right. That’s because there’s 50 other mechanics in your city that all provide the same service.

I did indeed get lucky. Wouldn’t have gotten this far without it. How could you hold that against me? I didn’t choose to be lucky.

I only have one competitor in my market and their product sucks.

I’m a self taught software developer, but my real skills lie in the ability to break down any business into a set of repeatable, scalable and efficient workflows and processes. I then turn that into software and businesses pay me so that they can operate more efficiently. My average customer tells us they save 5 hours per week managing their small business. They pay me $100/mo for that. Seems fair to me.

People who work in an office, not getting their hands dirty, mostly working on the phone are exactly secretaries.

0 skill

And sure as fuck don't deserve a 10k bonus.

Or are the Engineers, Designers, Project Managers, Salesmen etc that actually produce the business/work that the people in the field perform to make their paychecks and feed their families, not to mention keeping the company open with business to conduct.

Why should I pay more in taxes this year than any of you will pay in your entire life? What do I get out of it? Do I get a rich person lane on the highway? Do I get 2 votes to cancel out one of you imbeciles? Do I get a special line at TSA?

All I see is you people whining about not getting a refund. GOOD! You bitches need to pay into the system.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77114938

NONE of the above; what you DO get is a public reaming for your socially-superior attitude.
 Quoting: GSB/LTD

I bet you got a refund this year, eh?

All I see on here are threads from fake trump supporters whining about their refunds being smaller than last year. I think it’s a good thing. We should all pay in equally. Sick of subsidizing commies and white hating racists.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77114938

Coordinated effort today, including from CNN and MSNBC. Even my local news is pimping the narrative. None of them mention that people already got the “ refund” through lowered tax and withholding rates.

Of course, if you make BIG money, while living in a high tax Democrat run state, YOU ARE SCREWED, because now you actually have to pay for the high cost of liberalism and Democrat Corrupti9n, instead of laughing at the cocktail party about how YOU don’t have to pay for that stuff, since you deduct it from your fed taxes.

At some point the company ceases unless your kids take it over, and that rarely happens. Next CEO won't do it the same way you did, but what a generous gift.

That envy thing, of people paying less taxes? What do you want your legacy to be really?
 Quoting: MissCleo

You’re mistaken. I’m not envious of those paying less taxes. I think it’s a disservice to tax some less while others more. It distorts their perception of what’s happening.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77114938

I don't feel your skills are worth millions of years, when there are others who are more skilled and work harder than you and make less than 50k a year.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 42079668

Then why do thousands of small business owners pay me for my services every month? You’re wrong.

Take your fake money and leave then, douchebag. Building you a special one lane highway to buttfuckistan actually sounds like a good investment the more you talk.

With more and more folks feeling like yourself lately leaving is becoming a very attractive option. I’m smart enough to see where we’re headed...are you?

Right. You might call me “rich”, but I’m not “rich” like “those people”. There aren’t magical loopholes for people like me. I’m just a small business owner who works hard, employs dozens of people that I deeply care about, and provides value to the American economy. The government wants their 40%, and people just want to bitch about their refunds and then do the “hate the rich” thing.

I, and many people like myself are already planning an exit.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77114938

Good on you OP. I was at the gym yesterday and my headphones wouldn’t work, so I was forced to watch Pocahontas Warren on the treadmill in the Fox News quiet room, lol. Her whole platform was about what you’re saying here. Basically saying that everyone should get a fair chance and that the system is “rigged” to not be fair. It made me cringe every time those disgusting fatass slackers behind her clapped and hooted and hollered. It’s like they’re conditioned to believe it’s okay to steal or even dip into what you and I work hard our whole lives for. If everyone does their part, then the burden isn’t on you and I to pick up the slack for the slackers. I totally get it and think you have a very valid point. For what it’s worth, an angry workout to Pocahontas netted me much better results than if someone normal was on Fox, lol. hf

Millions of folks across america work their ass off until they are 60 or older, never seeing more than 40k a year.

They work a lot harder than you too.

So why are your skills worth multi millions each year?

There are thousands of software developers across the country and even more around the world and no one needs to come to your house to work on software, it can be done remotely.

I feel kind of like you are lying and you aren't a business owner at all, just a troll.

There are mechanics shops all over town, you are correct, and they are all busy, or at least have some work.

That just means there's a demand.

The problem is you live and die by the google review these days and in the service industry you need to have customers already before starting your own business or you will never succeed.

No one wants to use a mechanic no one ever heard of with no reviews.

Say it with me now: Overseas shell company, setup a trust, hire foreign bank.

You're rich enough you should be able to look into overseas asset protection trusts.

lemme explain douche.

you made 4 million dollars FOR DOING NOTHING. earning interest on your investments.

while OTHER PEOPLE had to WORK THEIR ASSES OFF for one one hundredth of the money you got for free.

and people like you, then COMPLAIN about the fact, you had to pay the government mobsters, and blame the slaves, because you see them as blame-able, weak, scapegoat.

you are gang signaling to the government mobsters 'hey guyz, let's GET 'EM, GET THEM, NOT ME'

DO IT TO THEM, NOT ME.

DO IT TO JULIA, DO IT TO JULIA!!

You’re wrong. I think you misunderstand all the things the government considers capital gains. I worked for every penny and not a cent of interest. Fuck off commie.

I already received my refund.
The day the soldiers stop bringing you their problems is the day you stopped leading them.
They have either lost confidence that you can help them or concluded that you do not care.
Either case is a failure of leadership.
