The OP is incorrect, many countries in Africa, Middle-East and Asia implement the death penalty.

Islamic countries such as Saudi, Iran & Pakistan have the highest use of the death penalty along with East Asian countries such as China & Singapore.

I have been in the Middle-East when I was in the Military and also knew an aid-worker who was killed in Yemen some years ago by Jihadis. It is one of the most backward and violent countries on Earth. Osama's father was of Yemeni origin.

Yemen is also one of the most dangerous countries for girls and women. There are many missing girls and women, surplus males and polygamy is also legal.

Hence to solve these problems, the safety & rights of girls & women must be improved first in Islamic & other 3rd world countries. Which is also the reason those countries are extremely backward, unstable and constantly at war.

We assume they are actually guilty. It might have been done by some religious leader and these two are taking the blame.
