It's not even a city. It's a town of less than 1000 people. I used to live in Inez Kentucky. Glad I got out of there. Lots of meth labs and people collecting crazy checks. You're lucky if 30% of the population works. The sheriff is right to lock your doors. That means the State Police will have to respond to calls. That will take a minimum of 30-45 minutes or more. Usually the State Police are dispatched out of Ashland. God help them if there is a terrorist attack on a local school...

Do you really think the Sheriff cares if a lawsuit is brought on the town of Inez. The Sheriff is an elected official and not appointed by the Inez Council...

In the rural areas of Kentucky security is pretty much up to the person and homeowner. Even with staffed and paid sheriff department response times are long. Call 911 and you may get help in 15 minutes from law enforcement.

I'm just about 20 miles from Inez.

I can guarantee that the crime rate in Inez will not go up just because there is now no Sheriff on duty.

Every single household in Inez, and all of the surrounding countryside have multiple weapons, along with people who not only know how to use them, but have the mindset to do so.

This is what really keeps the criminals in check in rural areas.
It isn't because we have the best law enforcement, we don't.
The Sheriff and his deputies are only interested in writing speeding tickets anyway.

It is because every person thinking about committing a home invasion, a car jacking, or a robbery knows that they will be met with deadly force.
Criminals are always going to have guns, legal or not.

A lion can bring down a water buffalo weighing many times what they do.
But they won't mess with a porcupine.

Last weekend I took the family out for a lunch and shopping trip.
Out of the fifty or so people I saw, every single one was armed. Either concealed, or open carrying.
I notice these type of things. I'm aware of my surroundings.

Kentucky justice = vigilante justice. Sheriff probably didnt' have much to do anyways except traffic tickets.

The sheriff is a servant of the community. That’s why they are called public servants. They shouldn’t be out fleecing the public through traffic tickets. I’m sure the public didn’t vote for the sheriff so he could screw them over financially.
