No one wants to hear someone drone on about something they know is wrong, but they should have the right to. And we should also have the right to tell that person to shut the fuck up.

It's only freedom of speech when people do their own thinking about what they are saying anyway. The internet and world wide connectedness changed the way that game is played.

it seems there are some whites that are the biggest totalitarians when it comes to censorship period . but people not understanding what the foundational principles of the nation are really about i think is the root of much of the problem . but in order to do that youd have to study the ideas the enlightenment philosophers espoused , and doing so might cause your peers to accuse of you of being in the 'illuminati' , so no wonder people just retreat their isolated echo chamber bubbles.

thats true to an extent i think . and the characteristics upon which a good discourse can be undertaken such as patience , sympathy , logical and rhetorical abilities , vocabulary , sense of humor , and above all a sense of decency are all being rapidly eroded . its getting so bad that violence may be the only way of resolving conflicts soon. the banning of and marginalizing inconvenient voices is not a good sign of where things are headed .

also it seems the internet is surely eroding the level and ability of expressive ability of the vast majority , putting aside what you think of trump as a president or even person he definitely seems to be contributing to this slide in expression.

i appreciate the sentiment but when the number of people is in the vast minority theres not a lot they can do on a mass level scale , all other things being equal .

I was thinking about this quote a couple days ago when Trinity announced they were dropped by another payment processor. Thanks for posting it. It's the "defend to the death" part that pussies have a problem with. Vets in my time knew what they were fighting for and why. We were all patriots. I was raised in a country I loved. I was raised to understand that the right to free speech is even more important than the right to bear arms, and both rights are sacred beyond measure.

Social media, the internet, and technology have given everyone a soap box. They have made people think their opinion matters to anyone else besides themselves. They have made the discussion level between a 12-year-old and a 34-year-old seem equal. And social media and the internet and technology have contributed to the dumbing down of people and a loss of social skills and perspective.

So now people are melting snowflakes on a soapbox. They can't handle criticism. And being that they lack social skills, they have to attack anyone who disagrees (and I mean attack, not rational debate) and try to purge anyone who disagrees. I also think growing up with divorced, messed-up parents and few to no siblings has stunted at least a generation or so. People just don't know how to deal anymore.

so whats the solution ....is there a way to remedy these problems without fundamentally reforming society ?

perhaps internet discourse should be eliminated altogether until individuals learn to engage with one another in a more civil manner ?

it seems that the nature of web interaction has always consisted of a large share of 'trolling' , and its culture , if you may call it that , in fact encourages it . so the notion of censorship online , especially when it is relatively harmless seem schizophrenic at best .

putting the "to death" portion aside , the minimum of defending a persons right to speech when it contradicts their own seems to be sorely lacking in these times a large degree.

Yes, I got it, we want people to get off the internet and get back to work and make babies. But after you have just talked to old guy after old guy who lost their wives in childbirth or to post postpartum complications back when the goal was four kids All you see is those lines of female graves where they were buried with their newborns.
