AI = Self-awareness in a machine = impossible.

Self - awareness is the ability to choose between two contradicting choices.
A machine cant do that... Even if it is given parameters and algorithms to calculate which is more beneficial, it is only mimicking choice.

Being a sucessful programmer for over 30 years, writing everything from fully automated systems to game routines, what you are saying is not right. It can not be done, there is no such thig as A.I. And unlikly it will ever be at any time in future, unless you create an atrificial brain made of bio matter. The real problem is "Self Awareness" and the ability for the mind to "think, and wander"(Dream/Daydream)

With modern AIs you do not know the algorithm! AI modifies itself and we cannot understand the code.

Being successful in deterministic programming is not the same as allowing for non-deterministic outcomes. Sensors, reflectors, and actuators of objects which interact with the sensed environment are essential precursors for self-awareness.

Interacting with such an entity for an extended time can lead to unexpected outcomes.
