Orthodox, maybe not. (I don't know if there's actually such a restriction in Jewish law.) I don't think RBG was Orthodox. No way she could vote as she did. In fact Orthodox are not even supposed to participate in a corrupt (non-Talmudic) justice system, and certainly not as a judge.

But "Reform Jews"? There's no restriction on what they do. It has little to do with Jewish law. Sure they can be cremated.

There is always a big fight over nominations when it gets close to elections( they will claim that we must wait until after the election). So they will delay until we get to that time frame, we are too far out now , so this is a problem for them.

Maybe she communicated her votes on upcoming cases before she died. Perhaps the existing justices allowed that, but then I expect someone would have communicated her demise to the White House. It's not classified information as far as I can tell.

The information of her death should be released by the Court. If the Court doesn't do it, it looks less good for the White House to do so even if they know. Maybe an agreement on timing of the release, perhaps along with Trump's nomination for the replacement, is in place.
