Havent drank alcohol this entire week
I feel like I need to go back to drinking. I will admit it was hard the first few days but now I am just so bored. It just is really lame lately, the news, politics, video games, people I have to interact with etc etc.

If you go back to drinking, it will be boring as well, you'll just cover up your boredom with inebriation. Quitting drinking is so worth it in the long run -- better health, better energy, new friendships that are not based on drinking . . . the list is endless, really. I couldn't do it myself without AA.

Drinking can lead to nighmare scenarios -- loss of job, home, family, health, and in the worst cases, prison sentences for manslaughter. Drunk driving is no joke, and don't think that you're immune -- no drinker is immune from drunk driving accidents.

One thing alcoholics will tell you is that it's much, much harder to quit drinking once you start again, than it is to stop drinking and keep sober. Just don't take that first drink, just for today.

I've got you beat bro. I haven't had a beer in two months. It's a sneaky disease. It will try to fool you and tempt you back into drinking. I quit for one year and guess why I started drinking again? I was bored. Exactly like what you said. So don't do it. It's way harder to quit than you think. If you fail....don't let it bother you to much. Just start all over again. It's like running a marathon road race. Sometimes you only make it one mile. Sometimes you make it five miles. Then you slip up. So you have to go back to the starting line and run the race all over again. Eventually you will learn what causes you to slip up. It's trial and error...over and over. If you don't learn how to stop drinking....eventually it will stop you. With severe health issues. Liver, kidneys, cancer...and others. So keep up the good work and stop for good.

Good solid advise here OP. Hope you make it through to the other side where life if much, so much better.

Take it a day at a time, or even and hour or 5 minutes at a time. Just don't take that first drink.

May you go with God each day and each night.

5* thread all day. Stick with keeping the booze out of your life OP. You'll be in a rare percentile of people that can quit booze cold turkey. Fuck the haters and keep at it.

I used to drink a bottle of good wine everyday for over 15 years

Surprise surprise I have type 2 diabetes.

Cut down a year ago to only friday, Saturday and Sunday's still 1 bottle

Sugar levels now normal...i also enjoy a drink now rather than just a bad habit....just saying.....

I used to stop at 2-3 beers in a night at a bar;
now I get a shot of tequila and a glass of beer at the same time, often twice each or more.

I drink on the weekends only... Sometimes I go weeks without drinking. Doesn't seem like an addiction for me as I can take it or leave it. I drink to relax, and get into projects, not because I have to.

This.

Give yourself time to create new interests and relationships to fill the void that booze used to fill.

More importantly, you need to do the internal work to find out why you drank in the first place.

I drink a bottle of wine a day. Have done for a few years now. At 2 euros a bottle its very cheap. Cheaper than water here.

I have just gone 2 days without any and to be honest, I have not really thought about it. I wondered if I was addicted or not. I dont think I am. In fact, I would turn it down at the moment if offered to me. I want to go a month without any just to clean my guts out. Then just have a bottle on weekends.

Like anything, in moderation it can have benefits.

Home made red wine is the best.....in moderation. There is so much of it here people give it away. The mass produced stuff that people pay a fortune for is full of preservatives and sulphates. Not good at all.

^THIS.

When you quit drinking, there's suddenly so much free time that you get easily bored and start drinking again.

When I did it, after drinking 12-18 beers a day for seven years, I started weightlifting and bicycling. Of course, you should find something that's rewarding to you and consumes the empty time.

If you're a beer drinker, drinking a lot of carbonated water helped me a lot. It's the same tactile thing as with smokers who need to have something in their hands when quitting. I craved to "feel the sting" of carbonation when drinking something.

I never analyzed my drinking much. In hindsight, I guess I did it to relieve stress and suppress self-censorship in a creative job. I basically made my career while drunk. I also did it to let myself to feel emotion. I'd sit at home, drink alone, listen to music and daydream.

A year after quitting, I didn't feel any cravings anymore. These days I can very well drink a beer or glass of wine when socializing, but I prefer not to. I don't fear it. Alcohol just has absolutely no appeal to me anymore. It makes me feel "stuffy", leaves a bad taste in my mouth and ruins my sleep if I drink in the evening. It's such a boring drug.

Re: Havent drank alcohol this entire week
I just started the TSM two weeks ago, it does seem to make drinking boring, kinda unfun. Which is fucked up because that's the reason most of us drink. I drank two beers last night and dumped out the last of my third one. Just got to remember to take the natrexone one hour before drinking.

Over the years I have been in and out of 12 step rooms. It always seemed boring after the newness wears off.

Ahywho, wish you luck with your travels.....

Why would any GLPer drink? TPTB want you to do your job “operating machinery “, go back to your home , the cost of which consumes most of the income from your job. Sit in front of the Aplha wave generating propaganda machine and drink yourself into a stupor. All of you just willingly submit. You know why they want this? Sick, obese, mentally challenged drunks with no ammunition do not band together and rise up.

Look in the mirror. You will find that you are sheeple.
