I'll add that one of the main reasons I do this is because I don't like using a coffee maker where the water sits in it for long periods of time, where bacteria can build up. Doing it this was ensures you're beginning with a perfectly clean set-up, every time. And it takes under 2 minutes to clean everything up and start new, because it's so accessible (I use a small stainless steel pan for the water). It's quick, easy, clean, and great coffee every time.
