Scandinavian Mindset
.... Minnesota has ALWAYS been extremely Liberal.
Back when I was growing up ( I am NOT young, lol) the Farm-Labor Party was still the most powerful political party in the state, and was WAY to the LEFT of the Democratic Party (usually aligned with the Democrats for the statewide elections though)
Anybody who thinks Minnesota is in any way shape or form "Conservative", or ever has been, has never paid attention to US Politics. Minnesota has been Liberal with a HUGE Socialist bent since at least the 1890's (time of William Jennings Bryant).
Beautiful state, when the State Bird is NOT flying (the mosquito!! lol), and generally had a good economy throughout most of the 20th century. Still doing well economically in the 21st century due to the high tech industry clustered around Minneapolis and St. Paul.
Biggest mistake they ever did was to become Somali Central ... they never had hardly any Blacks living in the state ... but now they are getting the Full Flavor of "CULTURAL DIVERSITY", and I think that the Liberal/Socialists in the State are in a state of SPEECHLESS SHOCK, trying to practice "Denial", as a result.

Because as all of you said, the landscape and nature there are stunning and I do get homesick for the trees, the vistas, the marshes, the wildflowers, the birds, the dynamic powerful weather, everything. And really other than crime, race and politics the people have a lot going for them too. Then I moved to the Pacific Northwest Coast! Out of the frying pan into the fire!!!!!!!!!!!! god help me.A
