So apparently we can't have bulletproof vests anymore?...
They told me husband this at the gunstore yesterday. Apparently only cops can?

Like what the hell? Maybe I'm late to this fact but I sure learn something everyday.

It's amazing. Cops can have tinted windows, speed down the road, and wear bulletproof windows and we can't?

Stupid Democrats and their double standards. We can hardly protect ourselves anymore. Everything is illegal.1dunno1

I do blame them cause they are the most liberal. But in reality both sides are just part of the same coin so, I dont get wrapped up in specifics it's just sad that you're right. Things are horrible and getting worse. I'm scared to see how its going to be 5 years from now, if we're here.

What state are you in? I just did a search and nothing turned up about them being illegal on the federal level. There are some state laws though, but they vary.

Historical Fact: When nations are on the verge of collapse governments seize any and all means the people have of defending themselves. This is done so the people can't rise up and remove the corrupt governments from power.

Historical Fact: Empires have a life span of 200 to 250 years and then they collapse due to corruption. The United States is within this time frame and the government is very corrupt.

Headshots and waist & below for femoral artery if encountering people wearing vests.

Also, one can find black tip AP ammo still if you look hard enough. Takes a level 4 vest to stop them.

Most vests are going to be pretty meaningless at some point as gun/bullets tech continues.

Just one example - 2017 article showing a company modifying 5.56 ammunition to have the ability to penetrate all levels of bullet proof vests up to 250 meters by modifying the bullet's core mass along the entire length of the bullet.

If I'm in a life or death situation, headshot is my go to anyways.

I'm not saying i wanted a bulletproof vest, because as you said it's not foolproof. I just was kind of shocked to hear what I heard. I fail to see why a vest would be illegal.

I know I know... I shouldn't even be surprised. Everything is going according to plan.

It's just... you know... we have so many luxuries in our country for the most part. But freedom and free speech? We really dont have it. It's the American dream cause you gotta be asleep to believe it.

Our poor forefathers. They're rolling in their graves. All these lives lost. For what?

Reasoning I can think of (not saying I agree with it.) If you’re buying a bullet proof vest, you’re planning to put yourself into a dangerous situation. Maybe the assumption is that only psycho mass murderers would be the ones that would be planning to put themselves into a dangerous situation like that and have need of vest.

Body Armor Law in Texas. In Texas, anyone can purchase and use a bulletproof vest, unless he or she has been convicted of a felony. Bulletproof vests and all other body armor can be purchased online or face-to-face.

Re: So apparently we can't have bulletproof vests anymore?...
Under federal law, a bulletproof vest is considered “body armor,” which is regulated by statute, 18 U.S.C.A. Section 931. That law forbids anyone convicted of a violent felony to own or possess a vest, unless the person wearing the vest is an employee who is doing so in order to perform a lawful business activity and who has obtained prior written certification from the employer. A violation incurs a maximum of three years in prison. And using a vest during the commission of a federal crime of violence or a federal drug-trafficking crime will result in an enhanced sentence. (42 U.S.C. Section 3796ll-3(d)(1).)

The federal law has been challenged on several grounds, all of them unsuccessfully:

Possession by convicted criminals
Like the federal law, many state laws prohibit certain convicted persons from possessing body armor. But some states don’t restrict the ban to those convicted only of violent felonies; and may even extend the ban to violent misdemeanors. Other states list the crimes that determine whether an individual may possess the armor.

Like the federal law, some states allow possession for specified reasons, such as for work.
