Neither is a safe sport, don't want to get hurt, don't play the sport. Only fun part of NASCAR is the last 10 laps, otherwise it's follow the leader, and don't get out of the draft. Again, sponsorship $ then were diluted due to that many more teams. At least now there is a resurgence as the new conglomerated series (which the merge happened in the 2000's) are back to racing in three disciplines-- road (which are purpose built race tracks usually with several corners, elevations, etc., temporary street circuits which are usually boring and then ovals. Ovals are most exciting yet most dangerous. Indy 500 is still my favorite race of year to watch, but I never miss a Daytona or Talladega -- the two real super-speedways in my book, although any 2 mile oval is by definition a super-speedway. Hoping Kyle Busch will finally get his Daytona win, the only big one he is missing. IMO, he is the best racer out there, yet he is hated by many. Nous sommes du soleil. -- We are of the sun. |
BBQ BOY™ (OP) User ID: 71292324 United States 02/17/2019 04:53 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm a huge race fan. Mostly open-wheel IndyCar, but follow F1 and Nascar too, so am pretty up to speed (sorry for pun) with what is going on in each series. Nascar's demise is a bit perplexing as the cars have been pretty much purpose built race cars since the mid '80's which has led to much of the pack racing. I think it's a matter os sponsorship $. Same deal with IndyCar where there are really few major corporate sponsors. That goes all the way back to when all American (later F1) on the prohibition of tobacco sponsorship which was huge for these series.
