I won’t mention any alt coins such as litecoin but I can give you my take on why BTC is here to stay.
People have continually digitalized things we hold dearly, photos, music, peeping on other people having sex. BTC is a store of value such as gold made digital. The main innovation of satoshi nakamoto and the early BTC developers was digital scarcity via the the invention of the blockchain. Before then everything digital could be copied into endless copies and therefore useless as a store of value.
So if a guy in Hong Kong wants to sell you his gold you two have to hire a third party to validate that he infact has gold and in a certain amount and then the hassle of shipping said gold. With BTC you not only cut out the middle man since it is trustless, you now can validate the value in a split second and send that value in a matter of seconds.
Well that’s not all but it’s a start for why I believe in the future for BTC.
