Why does the Biblical figure Moses have horns on his head in many old works of art?

I’ve never noticed this before, but there are horns present on the head of Moses in many old paintings, sculptures, tapestries, stained glass windows, etc... I find this to be a bit disconcerting. [ link to neuroclusterbrain.com] Moses represented age of Taurus (Bull); Jesus represented the age of Pisces (Fish)
