Aikido has some practical stuff but it is not as practical as Karate, Taekwondo, Jiu Jitsu, or Hapkido. Best thing to know is how to punch, kick, and basic grapple techniques. Blocks, timing, and combo drills. Nothing fancy. That's it. You don't need more than that. Everything else is for fun, exercise, and experimentation. |

Yes he got fat and out of shape, but aikido lends itself to that as well, and he is no one that anyone would want to go head to head with in a real confrontation...both in his earlier days, and I suspect even now. But he is older, could have injuries, and his level of fitness is a big factor too, so can't say for sure. But who he used to be was no joke and no act. His newer movies suck ass. oh.
