What if
All of those buried pyramids was their way of protecting themselves from the damage of a micronova and/or the earthquakes and flooding associated with a poleshift. A pyramid is fairly strong against an earthquake. It would be even moreso if covered in sand or soil.

Yes, I had read about that. I wonder if maybe the whole thing was goldplated. They would have power as well as channel the plasma and lightning into the ground.
