Yes if you include the scholarships at state universities, you could complete the 4 year degree for less than $70k.

What the FUCK! My wife has a master's in Speech Pathology and she was no where close to that ammount. That was 10 years ago.

Not everyone is as lucky and smart as your wife is. Degrees like speech pathology and political science have limited market for job opportunities.

It's a good career path. Most school districts hire these people. It's an easier job than teaching -- they are working one on one with people, not managing a class of 30 kids -- and they make a lot more money.

Also can work in health care field.

She should have made better financial choices. Sometimes I think people shouldn't go to school until they are 21 as they might be more mature about making financial choices. Then again, why didn't her parents advise against this?

In our household, the private schools aren't even considered as places to go for college. We also look favorably on going to community colleges for two years. Basic common sense.

Student loans/grants are the new welfare. Free money. No intention of paying it back. Or working. Many many people are doing this right now. Older people, people scamming the system. System allows.
