Two leading Democratic presidential candidates — Sens. Kamala Harris of California and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts — have reportedly said they support reparations for black Americans affected by slavery, reflecting a shift in the importance of race and identity issues within the party.

The New York Times reported Thursday that Harris doubled down on her support for reparations after agreeing with a host on the popular radio show “The Breakfast Club” that the race-conscious policy was necessary to address the legacies of slavery and discrimination in the United States.

“We have to be honest that people in this country do not start from the same place or have access to the same opportunities,” Harris said in the statement to The Times. “I’m serious about taking an approach that would change policies and structures and make real investments in black communities.”

Warren also supports reparations.

“We must confront the dark history of slavery and government-sanctioned discrimination in this country that has had many consequences, including undermining the ability of black families to build wealth in America for generations,” she told The Times.

“We need systemic, structural changes to address that.”

Julian Castro, another Democrat running for president, has indicated that he would support reparations...

Funny thing here is that if they do the reparations, will that fix the hate and disgust of the racists? No, they’ll still hate whites even though whites today have nothing to do with the past nor support slavery. Matter of fact whites helped get rid of slavery.

Honestly whoever asks for reparations should take a trip to countries like Libya etc where slavery still exist. If anything that money should be in aid to stop slavery worldwide, oh wait socialism is slavery.

Reparations would be like a cash stimulus package for our economy tho....cuz you know EVERY black person receiving that cash would go on EPIC spending sprees. In the book Civil War II, reparations were basically the last signpost to watch for before the Civil War got started. The book was written by a spook and details how a race based civil war was on the way and inevitable.

Recently freed slaves and their children should have been given some kind of reparations. No question in my mind.
Jim Crow era black people were treated in some of the most disgusting ways humans can treat other humans, so I could even see a case that they they had been owed some kind of reparations.

I would never agree with a SINGLE. BLACK. PERSON. TODAY. getting any kind of reparations. They aren't owed a damn thing.

The 2019 foundation of the democrat party is based on division and victim oppression. Without it they have nothing, which is why it is exaggerated, promoted, and concocted.

Hell no! I’ve never owned a slave nor have I even condoned slavery. I don’t owe anyone anything.

**By the way, slavery was legal at the time. It was not a “crime” by legal definition back then. Therefore, what illegality was committed that we tax payers need to atone for?
