a good friend had a trust held my Madoff. Of course he was wiped out. FINRA ( Insurance which governs payouts for fraud in the SEC ) backed out of its obligation COMPLETELY. His trust had been held for 25 years. ANYONE who withdrew amounts equal to their principal investments , even if after 25 years a person could reasonably expect a return of SOME kind - receive NADA. As a matter of fact ? there is *claw back* in some cases. He tried to committ suicide twice. Almost successfull both times. He survived Madoff - just barely.
