Hard to beat a .30-06

It can reach out and hit hard.

i use to own a full auto bar.
270 is my fave nowadays.

You should have seen his face. I told him what to do but the rifle almost flew out of his hands.

Local range opens in one week. I shoot mostly .22lr these days.

So much fun.

My dad taught me on a Winchester model 70 30 06. I'll never forget it, instantly hooked.

The wide range of factory loads for the '06 is a plus, also.

I've shot an '06 for over 50 years, and have used it for everything from coyotes to moose, and everything in between

Huge range of bullets available for handloading, too.

maybe on open range but in the woods its not necessary and 270 has all the loads up to elephant.

I sort of hate killing the damned things, but you can't make a living raising coyotes.

Loved the M1 Garand, but moved back to a Henry .30-30 with a nice piece of glass. Every round in a 6" pattern at 50 yards with 170 grain. Deer hunting you typically only get off 1 shot.

308 is my fav. And if shtf, 308 is better for long distances, as in sniper.

Would love to have an M1 but damn they are expensive.

My dad was a 30-06 fan, probably cause that's what he carried for 2.5 years in WWII. I on the other hand, love the 45-70 BPCR. My Shiloh Sharps is about as much fun as i can stand.

Your average civilian shooter will not have the skill required to squeeze out the additional 75-100 yards effectiveness of the .308 at extreme ranges.

I stick with the '06 because of the large choice of commercially loaded rounds, and you can find them everywhere.

I've got the Ruger M77 30-06 that my dad gave me.

It's a pretty nice gun that I sometimes take elk hunting.

I installed a Leupold vx-3 3x9 scope on it.

Definitely the most powerful rifle I own.

My uncle let me shoot his M1 when I was 11.
Got M1 thumb, but it taught me to get it out of the way!
