More like, there are various currents of ego all bundled together like a pile of snakes all vying for supremecy as the controlling ego-entity having access to the light, and then a few seconds later something else catches your attention and the next entity sees it's chance and takes over, and then the next thing happens and some other ego-stream takes over, and away we go, lost to ourselves in a never ending stream of ego-entities emerging from the goo, then fading back into it.
