Anonymous Coward User ID: 76292297 United States 03/06/2019 12:28 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Hi there. I too have CAD. Had a mild heart attack at work and got a stent (right coronary artery). Here's what I have been doing since after lots of research and I'm doing fine. I elected not to take the blood thinners after severe bruising, not to mention the expense. I take 200 mg of aspirin daily (with food) instead. As for statins, when my cholesterol runs high (usually my own fault cheating on diet) I will take them for a month or so (at bedtime..always at bedtime) until I stabilize. For long term plague reduction, vitamin K2 distributes calcium to bones and teeth vs arteries. It can be found in eggs, butter, liver (ick) and dark--meat chicken. The best source is something called Natto...or fermented soy beans. They smell nasty, don't taste too good either but can be prepared in such a way they are tolerable. Adding these things to your diet can help more than statins ever will. Regular cardio (to tolerance) is helpful too..pushes that nasty stuff right out of your arteries! ...a big issue for me as I have COPD and exercising is becoming very difficult. If you smoke, stop. If you don't, you will be back for another stent within 2 years. Glad you are on the mend! |
