Did consensus reality change from then to now?

And if so, for better (generally) or worse?

To be honest with you, in a way I kind of feel like it did. somewhere around 2014 things started switching from being curious about the unknown to wanting to argue about the unsolvable. I think they call that cognitive dissonance.. Is that the right word?
