AN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – Already known for outrageously high rents, the monthly rent in San Francisco has just hit a whole new level.

According to the latest report from rental website Zumper, the median rent for a one bedroom has reached $3,690, up from $3,580 in January and breaking the previous record of $3,650 set last September.

San Francisco’s median, the highest in the nation, is about 30 percent higher for a one bedroom in New York City, and more than double the rent in Miami.

I pay $800 month for a large 3 bedroom two story with basement, huge fenced in backyard , detached garage, three decks, walking distance to farmers market, restaurants, river and Lake Michigan beaches.
Extremely low crime, clean, community oriented, kids are a priority

Why the hell would people pay that kind of money to live in filth, congestion, crime, and with complete degenerates everywhere?

It’s the place to park that’s the catch. Moving everyday sucks. I lived in an rv full time for five years. You can have a badass motor home for $6-800 /month
If you can find a place to park it with full hook up for $1000 month you would be doing ok

I travel there for work a few times a year. There are areas, mostly around the big city parks, where the streets are completely lined with shitty old Breaking Bad meth lab looking RV’s that people live in because the rents are too high... I met a woman who lived in one with her mother, her teenage daughter, and her twin teenage sons... and she thought she had it pretty good... which she did compared to the vast tent cities that you see there... it’s fucking nuts

You don't make 3700 a mo.

Nevertheless, why do they HAVE to live in SF or NYC?

If living in those locations is the only way they can support their snowflake life style, then they should just melt away

I worked in the SF area for several years.
I rode BART around for about a week, just looking and eating and drinking, getting my bearings.
Rent is WAY cheaper towards the north and northeast ends of the BART lines.
Cheaper still if you're willing to live a mile away from a BART station in those areas.

I know retards in SF and NYC worth $65K a year but get paid $150K a year because of the cost of living.

Of course you're not going to get this benefit working as a McDonald's employee, that just got off probation for smacking his pregnant girl.
