I wouldn’t know anything about this but.....

All the major movies that have animals on-Set are now overseen by the American Humane Association & I can tell you the ‘overseeing’ is stringent, robust & institutional.

It’s a much better industry these days. There are some unfortunate incidents that occur infrequently & when/if they do there are thorough independent inquiries to ensure lessons can be learned.

I’ll say that for the industry now, kudos to them.

I believe there were some accusations made & it’s still under investigation but subsequently the accusations were sold to a media franchise rather than submitted to the governing bodies.

There were some issues with ‘Water For Elephants’ also but again I think that is also ongoing.

It’s a huge industry & an awful lot gets ‘said’ but rightly so even when there are ‘whispers’ of concern the relevant authorities literally ‘swoop’, as they should due to the fact that years ago some outrageous happenings would occur.

Hence the beady eyes now thank goodness. People looking in from the outside would assume that because vast amounts of money are involved that things get ‘swept under the carpet’ but I can assure you that isn’t the case thankfully.

The individuals that are on-set are very different to what you would imagine. They are actually animal lovers like you & I & the work & communication can be frustrating at times but all concerned take the delays & the inconvenience for what it is, in the best interest of the animals on-Set.

You hear clinical terms such as ‘Industry best practice’ & ‘safeguarding’ etc but when it comes down to it there are a bunch of very caring & professional people casting a very watchful eye, not because ‘otherwise there would be abuse’ but because sets are busy frantic places & all need to be on the ball to minimise accidents & unnecessary stress for the animals involved.
