Good one, haven't seen that. Kids usually hate needles, so this route probably doesn't happen much. However, having said that, if the kid decides to have it and gets sick then as long as I advised against it my conscience is clear. Another counter to deter the kids is to threaten to make them ward of the state, and follow through if they do. Check mate. |

They did try but I blew my top and stopped my weak-minded girlfriend and her daughter from caving in to the pressure. Five years on God only knows whether or not the poor girl has made a full recovery. She has bruises appear out of nowhere that her GP can’t explain despite thorough testing. Anecdotally I’ve heard in the U.K. that many other families have suffered due to this scandal. If you’d looked at the NHS page about Gardasil a few years ago it was full of comments from parents, all of which spelled out the damage it had done to their daughters. Those comment are no longer on that page. |

However, having said that, if the kid decides to have it and gets sick then as long as I advised against it my conscience is clear. The reason we DON'T let kids make those decisions as minors is that they aren't adequately prepared to defend their own best interest. In some cases (gender transitioning) they are in a confused period when they don't know what their best interest is and aren't too sure about who they are -- even though they feel sure at the time. Who hasn't seen a teenager who thought they were smart and sophisticated and that their parents were dumb? That's probably MOST teenagers, perfect for the school to exploit!
