Anonymous Coward User ID: 75746458 United States 03/07/2019 03:10 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I once set up phone service using a detailed info I had never used before with any company. Ten days later, my bank account was defrauded using that very detailed information I had provided the phone company. It turned out they had an employee accessing sensitive customer info and selling it. Wouldn’t surprise me if this is what happened to you as well. . |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 72269033 United States 03/07/2019 03:11 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Within 3 weeks of me signing on to my first ever ID fraud alert system (through turbotax) I had my identity stolen. Quoting: Who done it 71105229 I had never signed up for anything like it but turbotax seems to have a good rep so I did it. Then my identity was stolen within weeks. The weird and interesting part is, I never received a single alert from the turbotax fraud detection team. No text, no email, no call. Nothing. So I go talk to Equifax and get them to put an alert on my identity to watch for fraud, and about a week later turbotax team contacts me to tell me Equifax helped set up a fraud watch on my identity. A FULL WEEK after the situation had been cured they finally contacted me, but not for a fraud alert, just to tell me Equifax is watching for it. What's the moral of the story? Should have frozen your credit. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 52055181 good question lol i think op may have been saying 3 weeks = immediately since he/she never hired an anti-fraud company before though I could be wrong [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] Satire is one of the few forms of protected speech we can use to, well, speak. My wife is about to do our tax amdenments so I will definitely tell her NOT to choose that package. Your situation may have just saved my family heartache so thank you. I hope everything ends up as good or better than where you started, before the id theft! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71105229 Or was the timing just extremely ironic? I stopped using turd-bo-tax years ago when somebody outed them for installing spyware on your hard drive and selling your personal info to spammers. Am I surprised this happened to you? No. They have a history of questionable tactics. Once is an accident, twice is a coincidence, three times is a business model. I tried to make a phone call and they had taken over my phone number and sent it over to multiple different phone companies before settling with ATnT. I called my phone provider and they told me I instructed them to cancel my number and send it to other networks. So I tried to log into my bank, and it was ALSO hijacked. |
