Hooded ghost is haunting our home
I don't know what to do next. We moved into our new place last December and things have gone very strange indeed. There was always an atmosphere which we put down to it being an old house and our imagination. However, I should have trusted my instinct. Within a few weeks of moving in, we had a set of candles that are on our dining room table, loudly fall over in the night. This happened numerous times even after checking they were very securely upright and there being no way they would tip over. We set up a camera to try and catch this footage but then something would happen elsewhere in the house when we did this.

Later on, we would draw curtains only to find them open again even when one of us were alone in the house. Doors rattled and banged. But the most terrifying thing is that we've seen a transparent hooded figure hovering at the end of our bed. This has happened twice now and my wife is terrified. We've even moved our dog's bed into our bedroom as we don't like the idea of leaving her in a separate room at night. We've had objects disappear and then we later find them in unusual places. I found three golf balls and a teaspoon in our hallway one morning when they hadn't been there the evening before. It actually helps to share this with people so I'd welcome your thoughts, or experiences if you've been through anything like this yourself.

Re: Hooded ghost is haunting our home
I’ve been through this minus the hooded figure. Whatever was haunting our house had a terrifying face. A hood would’ve been a blessing.

Objects missing & after hours or days of searching, it would turn up in places we had previously looked many times over. New lightbulbs constantly blowing, smoke detectors constantly going off, but only when I was at home alone. Mysterious smells of smoke but no fire source. Voices calling out to me when I was home alone. I’ve had family members told to “Get out!” by an unembodied voice. Sounds of very loud hammering on the walls heard only from inside the house. My son & I both witnessed items being thrown across the room by an invisible source. This was on separate occasions & once when we were together. TVs turning off & on. I even felt a hand run up my thigh one night when I was lying on my bed. We sold our house & moved into one that isn’t haunted.

I should add that this house wasn’t old. It was less than 10 yrs in age.

Re: Hooded ghost is haunting our home
Hi OP, My mum had an old house (300 years old) many years ago and she had exactly the same experiences as you (except seeing an actual figure - which never happened to us).

Once when I was visiting I was washing my face and the ghost turned the tap off whilst my face was still over the sink! My eyes were closed at the time but when I opened them it took like 3 whole turns of the tap to get the water back on there was no mistake. Then I went to bed freaked out and closed the bedroom door behind me and pulled the duvet over my head. Ten minutes after that I pulled my head out and lo and behold the bloody ghost had opened the bedroom door! This was no accident either, the door catch and thick carpet precluded any accidental movement of that door.

My mum is a real scaredycat about everything, and yet the ghost in her house never bothered her. She could sense that it was just being mischievous all the time and the frequency of events was daily. So she stopped worrying about it.

Usually hauntings like this turn out to be an old owner of the house who may have passed away there and they are stuck. The best thing you can do is not worry and get a psychic person in who knows how to help release the spirit properly into the afterlife. It's a very simple process and the haunting will end at that point, you will not be bothered again.

Try not to worry about it your ghost certainly seems a mischievous one too. My mum thought about getting a Psychic in, but in the end the haunting stopped on its own after about 12 months and there were no further incidents.

It was a frightening experience once I came out of denial & realized what was truly going on. I went through the house with a Bible in hand, demanding it to leave one night. Things were quiet for a little while, but shortly before moving out, I could feel the atmosphere become very thick & tense. I’ve no doubts that things would’ve ramped up in a big way had we not moved.

I have no idea if the current owner has had any of the same experiences.

This! Make sure the smoke reaches every corner of your home. Also, get some black salt and sprinkle it along the baseboards.

Re: Hooded ghost is haunting our home
It's interesting to read other peoples experiences. It seems there are similarities, but perhaps seeing the ghost is less common. It's very strange as we see it in the middle of the night and wouldn't usually wake up at that time. It's as if it is willing us awake to see it.

I can't say where it comes from. It's appearance isn't too clear but it is wearing a hood or robe and has an unnatural shape further down its body. It doesn't stay for long once seen but the second time seemed longer than the first.

Just as scary is when our hifi radio turns on in the night. It is very loud and means one of us must go into the living room and turn it back off. There is a strong feeling of being watched/followed whilst approaching the hifi. And a feeling of dread/imminent danger. I'd say activity is increasing and this is beginning to impact our quality of life a bit. So we may indeed require help with it.

In a similar situation when all else failed we loudly announced in every room, "if these strange things persist we are going to burn down this house"

It got normal after that with only a few small insignificant occurrences.

I deal with this stuff often. Sounds like attention-seeking behavior, to me.

I would start by "chatting" with whatever it is. In a conversational tone, just tell it that you see him and the things he does, and ask if he needs something. Then, and this is important, you need to lay down ground rules. The figure is not allowed in your bedroom at night, the figure is not allowed to take your car keys and hide them, it's not allowed to mess with the dog, etc....whatever rules you deem necessary. You'd be surprised how often that just acknowledging the spirit will reduce or eliminate the activity.

String a grounded copper wire across the path the ghost usually walks. They are supposed to be electric energy so any electricity that touches that wire will instantly be grounded into the dirt outside. LOL.

Sage and/or Palo Santo wood.

I found that, with central air, if you hold the smudge near the air intake (in the ceiling near the furnace, in my case) while the fan is on, it'll reach all corners of the house at once.

by all means do not succumb to fear..its what these energy forms feed on. state clearly your intent for the parasite to leave, under no uncertain terms. invoke the name of your personal deity (Christ, if possible) be strong, you have a body, and it does not. you are stronger.
sage, palo santo, copal all are good clearing modalities, but if its done with fear and without confidence it will just stir up more stuff as the dark passenger will be affirmed of your knowledge of its presence. if you cant do those things, bring in someone who can!! blessings sent your way..

+1 on the person that recommended using sage. Go buy a sage smudge bundle.

DO NOT BURN SAGE! Shitty advise. Do the following,

Small bag like a velvet bag for jewelry.
1 vanilla bean.
handfull of lavender
iron nail or other iron implement.
red string.

Combine into the bag and tie with the string.
Place these in all areas the spirit has been seen.

My wife has suggested using an ouija board to try and find out its intention/reason for being there. I'm not all that keen as I've read they can make things worse but it might shed some light in to what we're dealing with.

I also have the number of a clairvoyant who apparently has experience of dealing with these matters so I will give her a call this evening to see what can be done.
