Get a waterbed or two. Make sure to add treatment, and you can distill.

Frederick Flinstone, that's funny.

The water bed thing i had never thought of. Sounds like a good idea for another alternative.

But its hard to beat just cases of bottled water. They stack easily, are cheap, and if you are like me you drink a lot of bottled water so your stash gets rotated often.

Another way is if your a drinker of hard liquor, save your 1.75L. bottles, glass or plastic, glass especially and fill with tap water with a drop of bleach to keep the water from going bad.

You can also get all the liqour bottles you want for free from and tavern.

You also can get water from your water heater in an emergency.

A waterbed also has volume to put out smaller fires.

No matter how much water you store, it will eventually run out.

I'm lucky to live where there's plenty of fresh water so I collect when needed. Springs and small creeks are prime sources..I don't even boil or treat..but I have a super clean diet so giardia can't stick around.

You should reconsider that. Boil at least.

Store it in a dark place to keep algae from growing.

Re: Prepping Question WATER STORAGE
If you are really serious, get a water storage tank. It can be stored in a shed or backyard. I got one from a company who digs wells.
Just buy the hand pump and you got water to last as big as the tank ...and they HUGE ones. A good size would fit into your garage.

They will deliver it and set it up.

I REALLY like water.
During the summer I set up a few pools for my animals so they can dunk or lay down in the water. I also use those big galvanized water troughs and I think they are about 50-100 gallons so they are like bathtubs.
You could use one of those as stored water for washing.

That's basically all I do to prep.
Yah, I have some backup canned goods etc. but I gave up on the rest. I just cannot live like that anymore.

The only other prep that I do is follow Jesus.

Re: Prepping Question WATER STORAGE
My roof drains into a 10000 gallon catchment tank, then gets pumped through a 20 micron string filter, a 5 micron charcoal filer and the uv filter. Tank can fill in a day of heavy rain. Its very common here.
