Quoting: Cleveland_Steamer I have heard that saying before! lol I have concerns aboult the direction that Geneticists are taking in regards to gene splicing I was offered a job a few years ago at an internationally known institute, where I would be helping to sequence the zebra fish genome I declined (the pay wasn't as high as you'd think and I would have had to relocate to Cambridge) STEM teachers are being offered competitive tax free incentives to train as there are shortages in this country Idk, if it pays the bills go for it. I just have a hard time respecting teachers. The majority that i've known are very much egomaniacs. They have this belief that they are always right and know more than you just because they are teachers and teach youth. Beyond that higher education professors, I've been finishing up my bachelors degree after 17 years in the industry i've worked in and the professors are absolute dipshits that have never worked a day in the real world. They have no basis in reality, have no idea how the real world works, and know nothing about information technology beyond what they read out of a book. I hear where you are coming from I've had a couple of teachers who are as you've described especially at university where they didn't teach ethics they only taught that we have to consider ethics in our research In the real world people are genuinely concerned about science ethics I'm determined to be different when teaching my students I'm concerned that I'll be forced to teach things I don't agree with
