Ks...INTENSE WINTER STORM FOR THE MOUNTAINS AND EASTERN COLORADO...
.The powerful winter storm affecting eastern
Colorado today has
spread blizzard conditions across northeast Colorado from the
Front Range Foothills eastward to the Kansas border and from the
Wyoming border down to the Palmer Divide. Winds have been gusting
to 65 mph at most locations and up to 80 mph at a few locations. Snowfall
of several inches has also occurred.
Travel across northeast Colorado has been severely impacted with
many highways across northeast Colorado closed. Highway closures
include I-76 northeast of Thornton, I-70 east of Watkins and I-25
from the Denver Tech Center to the Air Force Academy. I-70 west of
Denver has also been closed from Golden to Idaho Springs. Pena
Boulevard to Denver Airport has also been closed.
WHAT...Blizzard conditions. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 8
inches expected. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph.
