It will be a core flip, not a pole shift.
We should start a drive to rename this event to a “Core Flip”, not a pole shift.
This should help people better understand what’s about to happen, again.

The core will flip much faster than the crust causing the crust and mantle to break free of the core.
After the core flip completes the crust/mantle will be going in the opposite direction of the core.
The crust/mantle will slow down, stop, and then start moving the same direction as the core.
Of course the oceans will not be able to stop as quickly as the rest of the crust and will continue moving in the old direction for a few days before settling down to the new rotation.
