While watching the Tour de France I was considering the spread and impact of residential and general building on villages. I estimate the population in the prettiest rural areas of France is about 5x as high as it should be for best picturesque. Ideally there should be 5x fewer buildings. Not even considering cities or any handback to wilderness - this is rural/farmed/mixed forestry areas. France's population should be under 10 million, Europe is grossly overpopulated.
