The IDF needs to find out where this "joint operations room" is, and blow it sky high immediately.

The Palestinians have no leverage whatsoever. This is so F'n stupid.

I still think that Israel will crush Hamas before the election if this last peace effort fails and more rockets fly just my opinion.

If this escalates again, the next steps are to bomb the hell out of higher priority targets; buildings and places which mean more to Hamas, but are also embedded among civilians. Netanyahu reportedly has approved ALL targets inside Gaza which the IDF has compiled a list of in categories of importance. The targets hit in the last couple of weeks were symbolic gestures which took out empty buildings that didn't matter, and didn't kill anyone. Ismail Haniyeh's office? So what. He doesn't need an office to sit around eating Falafel acting like a hero while everyone else suffers.

They're not going to just gung ho start racing into downtown Gaza City with tanks.

Hamas told the Egyptian security delegation that it was fed up with Israel's "foot-dragging" in implementing the demands and agreements.
Hamas stressed to the delegation that if they do not hesitate to move things in Israel, they will announce the failure of the talks and begin to escalate dramatically.

I think when 48 hours is almost up, we are going to magically hear that the Egyptian delegation has gotten parties in Gaza to agree to new "understandings with Israel".

Then Netanyahu will stall, not wanting to out himself as weak. Then Hamas will say Netanyahu "is not abiding by the agreements". Then the Egyptian delegation will continue going in circles until the 9th, at which time factions in Gaza will escalate to coincide with election day. Hamas in my opinion is going to try messing with election day in Israel. They may have a goal in mind here to really divide the Israeli population on opinions of how Netanyahu is handling this. If Hamas can manage to have half of Israelis dissatisfied with Netanyahu's handling of it, he will lose.

Netanyahu is dealing with a cornered animal, with no leverage, who one day will outsmart him. He's playing with fire here for his political life. If he plays this wrong, he will look too indecisive and that won't please any portion of the Israeli public. They either want peace, or war, but not neither.

You can bet your ass IDF troops, and families with active duty troops rotting in mud on the Gaza border aren't too pleased right now. The troops don't want to die, so they probably aren't war mongering, but once they have this much time to think, it can't be a good place to be if they get serious orders to be heroes after rotting for 3 weeks in mud. The families are conflicted most likely. This whole thing sucks for everyone because it never gets resolved with this fence riding Prime Minister.
