Yes it;s very rewarding; provided your students are interested or at least not a distraction. You don't want to teach in city schools generally, avoid them like the plague.

What subject(s) would you be teaching? I taught art and environmental science to everyone from Kindergarten to 60 year olds. Some of it was in public schools.

It varies by subject, student age, and location of school. It can be rewarding or it can be hell.

I substitute teach just about every day in a city school system. Try subbing and see what teaching is like. I can tell you it's stressful. I see the teacher's stress on their faces everyday. I personally think most students I see are preoccupied with their phone and have a pea sized attention span. The generation in HS is not producing smarties for sure. Just a bunch of cardboard ppl.
