Red potatoes. Note: the red flavorful ones from my youth. Taters now are like part white potato. Homefry style (chunks) fried in a cast iron skillet in either shortening or bacon grease or a combination of both. I create my own flavoring after reading the ingredients from McCormick's Perfect Pinch Steak Seasoning using himilayan salt.

Shepards or cottage pie? I only like roasted lamb so shepards have never been my fav. But cottage pie! Yup.

i happen to know a potato farmer, he wont eat the crops he grows for sale, has his own little private garden, they absorb a lot of toxic spray the hardy spud.. but me, i love 'em mashed with butter n gravy

I grow a lot of potatoes, many colors. Purple mashed are one my favorite. It is nice to roast the small ones of many colors and you get to taste the difference of each colors flavor. I love them any way but burned.

As an aside...I made a perennial potato patch that lasted for 8 years. No digging no hilling up etc, just stick your hand in and grab some. There was a trick to it...but that is too long of a conversation for a potato eating thread...

I like either a baked potato or scalloped potatoes with ham. Although, sometimes roasted potatoes can be good, too. Nothing wrong with a good potato salad, either. And mashed potatoes at Thanksgiving. Hmmm...I guess I like potatoes more than I thought I did. LOL!

That's kind of an interesting phenomena on conspiracy sites...in general...there are a lot of foodies. While we may all want doom, Doom, DOOM, we don't want to go without our food. And taters is good. I guess if I said 'late at night Pringles' I'd get several reds...kek.

The problem with potatoes for most people is that they tend to take a long time to cook, which conflicts with a generation that is not willing to spend the time in the kitchen. Sure, there are frozen potatoes, dried mashed potatoes, and chips, but real home-cooking takes some time. Do you suppose that's one of the reasons why people frequent fast food - for the fries - because they need their potato fix? LOL!

Meanwhile, the conspiracy theorists tend to be more "do for yourself" types of people who will take the time to cook from scratch. I cannot stand French fries or those potato cakes from fast food places. But give me a good home-cooked potato that is well-seasoned and I am there!

This is on my to-do list in the kitchen...with as MUCH butter as possible!
