She would have been better off having fun during high school and being a B student. And then going to a community college. Then applying to a university. She needs to be focused on getting a degree and less about where she wants to go.

I see a lot of kids here in my little corner of the US feeling the allure of California for college. (and actually many of them come back after a year because it wasn't as great as they thought)

You need more than a 4.0 these days, kids are applying with 4.3 gpa. Plus you have to have tons of sports, community service, competitions won, musical abilities, etc. etc.

You're right, I didn't catch that. My kids had higher than 4.0s because of AP classes. Maybe she just took easy classes and that doesn't cut it anymore
