for those of you who don't know already, white men AND white women are severely discriminated against in college admissions. it's worse for white males because white women with interest in science/engineering do get a substantial boost, but if you're a white girl who wants to major in English at Princeton or art at Yale, it isn't going to happen unless you're an heiress. Most of the "white" people you see on an Ivy campus are actually Joosh. (Asians are heavily discriminated against too, sadly)

I know because I was an "elite" performer academically, as were many of my friends in high school / college. My girlfriend was in the mid 1500s/1600 on her SATs and the guidance counselors were recommending state schools. Ivy wasn't even an option -- there was just no chance in hell, so it wasn't worth wasting the application fees.

I was a 99%ile kid myself, National Merit Scholar, state-level athlete, all that stuff. Same deal. I could get a full ride to 90% of schools in the country, but it was pointless to apply to even the "worst" Ivies. A buddy of mine got a 1600/1600 SAT, was valedictorian, a sate-level musician, had so many accolades they'd sink a boat. Rejected by the Ivies he applied to. Meanwhile, another classmate, mediocre mind, lower test scores, utterly "boring" in comparison to the rest of the bright set at my school. Yet somehow he manages to get into Princeton. There are no prizes for guessing his ethnicity.

c'est la vie, right?

I wonder why they rejected her? Because of her perfect score on the ACT?

Probably because she was White from Louisiana.

We wouldn't want to hurt their feelings now would we?

Yeah, great score but not amazing. If the OP is correct and she really has a 4.0 that's the problem right there. She may not have taken AP classes and was able to ace standard level classes, which isn't that impressive.
My son had enough college credits from high school AP classes he was able to get a computer science degree in 3 years without summer sessions

LOL 100 kids get into 20 different schools by paying their way in. Class action lawsuit and it impacted this chick.

I'm sure some black got in with a 2.8 GPA and a 23 ACT score as a diversity admission.

What about the dummy football / basketball player who's pulled in on scholarship? They are taking your spot as well.

This is about BS ridiculously pompous self-righteous professors being paid outlandish salaries to corrupt kids.

Hollywood pretending to condemn the ones who got caught. They all stink. And corporate owners donating to college buildings to get their kids into these schools...just a different type of bribery.

ALL kids who were enrolled fraudulently should be kicked out.

What the hell is USC debating about what to do with kids already enrolled? Kick them out...they did not earn it nor deserve it. Do these coege administrator s have an ounce of integrity?

COLLEGE is a thing of the past. I hope this scandal opens the new awakening that you don't need to GO to a college anymore.

Everything can be done online now and they will be extinct soon.
 Quoting: MING THE MERCILESS

Yup. The first two years are a waste of things you should have learned in high school. You should know what you want to study and start that right off the bat. Especially since they want people to get a Masters and beyond. By the time you make it out you’re middle aged.

I was just talking about this type of thing two days ago.

I was watching the local news (which i rarely do because it always pisses me off) anyway they were doing a story on the recent college admittance scandal. They talked to the president of the college and he stated right there on camera that excellent academic achievements do not guarantee admittance!!!

I couldnt believe he actually stated that. First thing i thought of is all the low iq fucks that are taking the seats that dont deserve what they are given because of their brown and black skin.

You need more than a 4.0 these days, kids are applying with 4.3 gpa. Plus you have to have tons of sports, community service, competitions won, musical abilities, etc. etc.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77441294

It’s just not worth it. Kids are wasting their youth and stressing themselves out. And then they still don’t get in. And if they do most graduate with a worthless degree and tons of debt. And they still have to say would you like fires with that?

In regards to the whole "rich people buying access" thing. I always thought that was how it was done in those upper-tier schools.

They leave a small percentage of slots "open" for the random public, but the vast majority are bought. Either through "donations" or money-driven "networking".

I'm more shocked at the outrage than I am the act. Thought everybody knew this was how it was done. Guess that's what I get for being a plebe.
 Quoting: Bullshitter

It makes it look like every rich kid is smart since they are going to the Harvard’s, the Yale’s, etc.......

There’s stupid people in the lower class, middle class and upper class ranks of society.

Just because a person has money doesn’t mean their automatically somehow smarter than everyone else.

I know some people who own their own business that are complete morons. They have a bunch of “Yes” men around them and get unimaginably enraged if they are told no or if someone doesn’t like their idea. When I say enraged I mean childishly enraged almost to the point of stomping their feet and throwing themselves on the ground kicking and screaming making a big fool of themselves in front of adults. They have no concept of the word “no”.

Other people I know who own their own business are super smart.

As a high school senior in Louisiana, Lauren Fidelak maintained a 4.0 GPA and scored a stellar 34 on her ACT. But when she applied to her preferred schools, the University of Southern California and UCLA, she wasn't accepted.

The rejections left her so upset she had an emotional breakdown and needed to be hospitalized in Boston.

Essay and life experiences/work/volunteering/travel also play heavy into admission at top universities. Most top highschool students have at least a 4.2, when you factor in honors and AP classes...I didn’t read the entire thread, but where she went to highschool, and their standards are also considered. My kids also attended a Steiner grade school. All the colleges accepted them. I am finishing up putting two through this overpriced b.s....
My daughter got a Presidential scholarship at a great private university.
My son attends one of the top party schools. Their educations cost way more than my home. I am very lucky but most are not. God, help us.

My son had straight A’s. One A-. His unweighted average was an A. His weighted was unreal - he took all weighted classes.

I wish he applied to those schools now. He would have been denied by some of the Ivy’s.

The problem is the people suing went to great schools in the alternative. What are the damages?

It's shame that you don't understand that the number one priority of private colleges is to make money. That simple. If the brown or black person is an athlete, they are making that school millions of dollars (in the case of major sports) and is therefore more "deserving" (euphemism for a cash cow).
