Good morning and thank you all for the concern and prayers. I have been busy prepping and tracking the storm on a local weather forum that I belong to.

We only had street flooding yesterday, but the lightning was really scary. We have not flooded here before as our levees in Jefferson Parish are higher than most and we have a pretty good drainage system. At my location it is 27 feet high and pretty sturdy. My biggest concern is power outages so I have supplies and a generator ready to go.

Orleans Parish has some low levee spots that cannot support 20 feet of water but they are addressing those.

Another surrounding Parish is St. Bernard parish and ALL of there levees are the highest of 20 feet so there can be river over topping there which the Army Corp hopes that some of the water spilling over would be absorbed by the drainage pumps. However, in the case of St. Bernard Parish you have to worry about saturated levees as well.

For now, it is a wait and see thing.

They keep stressing on the news that we are in uncharted territory. The River has never been this high when a tropical storm or possible hurricane is approaching.
