Really interesting pending reports from last night on American Meteor Society's Fireball log. The reports came in from all over the US and some were in Canada as well. I have went through a bunch of them, and this one, from James in Baton Rouge, LA, had a nice description:

"I am a novice backyard stargazer. I have seen meteors in Perseid Meteor shower and one or possible randoms that we’re cool but did not prompt me to report or investigate further, online or otherwise. What I saw tonight was much more intense. It was a very bright, very large, very much a “fireball” in sky, with a tail, seemingly “burning” and “closer” than meteors I saw in Perseid showers. I am very curious to find out what exactly it was. It was something much different and more intense/exciting than anything I’ve seen previously (whether meteor or not)." Well, I guess today it could start/intensify. But so far I haven't witnessed or heard of anything happening that has everyone noticing. Mike made it sound like the event that is to take place would be noticed by most. It is going to have to be huge for many to take notice.

Ok, I will have to go back and listen to him again. I thought he made it sound like an event would happen that would be noticed by most. I do realize that whatever happens, the ptb will try to minimize it though. I also thought/hoped it would be an event so telling that it would be in people's faces. I guess we will know though in a few days.

Listening in now and yes it is getting some hits.

I am reading through the meteor reports this morning and there are some really interesting reports. I only got through about the first 11, but some are reporting sounds and booms along with the siting. Many are describing it like nothing they have seen before.

need to find the european version and astronomy club sites in various regions that are private groups....everywhere...everybody pick a country and city and find a local band of star watchers and astronomy clubs....

talk to them and see if they would reply to this site and thread maybe....

NOLA, I watched the fireball report yesterday expecting an uptick in the number of reports. But, the 12th had many fewer entries than the 11th. But today the 13th is showing a large increase in the number of reports so far. Interesting site. Thanks, as always.

Nice find, or nice share. The sounds remind me of when the Dot first came out, you could listen for the dings etc. Will leave as background sound for a while. Had to turn the sound up quite a bit.

That is a nice find. And it does seem active.

I remember months ago, when Mike first brought this up, Pas. Paul boxed him into the 12th. He said initially around May 12. Last Thursday, he even clarified that we need to watch the 11-15th and mentioned that the 13th and 14th would experience an uptick.

Edited to add I just checked the pending reports and that cluster from 10pm PDT last night on the west coast looks interesting. It had to be big enough to have been viewed by multiple people in Las Vegas and California.
