How hearwarming! Now that kitty can grow up and kill hundreds of beautiful song birds and breed hundreds of other cats that will do the same!

"Cats that live in the wild or indoor pets allowed to roam outdoors kill from 1.4 billion to as many as 3.7 billion birds in the continental U.S. each year, says a new study that escalates a decades-old debate over the feline threat to native animals.

The estimates are much higher than the hundreds of millions of annual bird deaths previously attributed to cats. The study also says that from 6.9 billion to as many as 20.7 billion mammals — mainly mice, shrews, rabbits and voles — are killed by cats annually in the contiguous 48 states. The report is scheduled to be published Tuesday in Nature Communications.

"I was stunned," said ornithologist Peter Marra of the Smithsonian's Conservation Biology Institute. He and Smithsonian colleague Scott Loss, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service biologist Tom Will conducted the study."

Re: Heroic rabbit digs a stuck kitten out of trouble.
Cat lover and total bunny lover here.

I have 4 cats (3 of them my boyfriend adopted into our family), and 2 house rabbits.
The rabbits were actually born on my birthday, and there is a bit more of a back story with them; it was meant to be.

Bunnies do best in pairs. If they don't have a bunny partner, a fun kitty will do. I bet that kitty and bunny are best buds.

All my animals get along great. The rabbits are house bunnies and are little box trained. Sometimes the kittens will chase around the bunnies, and I realized sometimes it is the female rabbit instigating the chase play.

One of these days I am going to set up my time lapse camera and film the living room where they all hang out all day.

- More Windfarms on the Way !!!

....Windfarms kill 10-20 times more than previously thought

Wind turbines are actually slaughtering millions of birds and bats annually

The Obama administration is issuing 30-year permits for “taking” (killing) bald and golden eagles. The great birds will be legally slaughtered “unintentionally” by lethal wind turbines installed in their breeding territories, and in “dispersion areas” where their young congregate (e.g. Altamont Pass).

By chance (if you believe in coincidences), a timely government study claims wind farms will kill “only” 1.4 million birds yearly by 2030. This new report is just one of many, financed with taxpayers’ money, aimed at convincing the public that additional mortality caused by wind plants is sustainable. – It is not....
