Yeah, I have the same too! I see my own space as sacret space that should not be defiled by other people. Also I do not visit others at their house because it creates expectations and I do not like the conditions put on me. So yeah, me and my wife are hermits and love the time we have for ourselves. We are not people people anyway.

Yep. Just me and my dogs. Haven't had anyone at my place since 2009. Well, just the guy to check the utility counter, who I don't converse with anyway, coz he's a lobotomised twat.

Yep! Tried to become more sociable and all I got was drama. Also tried a dating site to meet people because I do not go anywhere at all and it does become lonely sometimes. I met one guy and I was good to him, he ghosted in 2 weeks. I give up.

I would guess I am one of the most hermited on this site. I only see and talk to people a few times a year when I go to town for supplies. You can not see a road or any sign of other people where I live, totally private. I live alone and like it that way.

Real people are wonderful to be around. Unfortunately there aren't many here..

Me too, I still have have one hell of a snow pack with no land in sight yet. Still have plenty of fire wood and a good food supply. Yippy made it another winter just fine.

Unfortunately, this is true. I would love to have some good, quality people in my life. Time and time again, all I run into are liars, backstabbers and horrible people. Sad.

I keep a well stocked pantry room, I call it the store. It has what I need, canned goods section, stored produce from the farm, dry goods, freezer section, fresh growing greens, sundry, hardware and extra parts. I can make or fix anything I want, no need to go out.

I make my own fries, candy, pies, fancy meals, snacks, bread, anything I want from scratch bulk ingredients.

Me too, no mail service.

I work alone in my workshop.....no distractions.....time flies....my mind is at peace....creativity flows....

You cross the street if you see people? You avoid cashiers and have your friends pay for things?! I'm surprised you have friends at all. This is not normal behaviour.

Osmium, you are a like minded good guy, close enough and welcome to visit some time when the snow melts or we could go fishing. I should work on having some human interaction. I have a new outlook on life after my recent unexpected recovery from long term illness.

The Winn-Dixie up the street has self-checkouts. The lines are longer for the self-checkouts than the ones with live cashiers.

It's not just us hermits; avoiding people in the wild is becoming normal. And yes, I mean the wild. Even in the heart of this city, most people are still wild animals and avoiding interaction is best. You just don't know which ones are the dangerous ones.
