Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76431462 That one is full of pygas. Already have 2 tanks with Pygas in them burning. There's a total of 4 tanks within those 15 tanks that contain Pygas. Yes, but they were almost burned out as it looked to me. I think tank 10 is still loaded and fresh as of now. Yeah, 7 and 10 both contain Pygas and weren't yet ignited as of early afternoon. 14 and 15 caught fire this morning. Those are the other two containing Pygas. Crazy, 15 is just gone, to the ground. Hard to tell if 14 has anything left in it. |

I don't know, 13 looked pretty far from going last time we could see, but who knows now. Toluene is pretty flammable stuff. We used to mix it in our gasoline as an octane booster, so you could actually just dump some in your cars gas tank and it'd burn along with the gas in the tank It brought the octane level up for a high compression race engine. It's also a solvent, fairly common, but it burns pretty fast compared to something like kerosene. |

If 10 goes up, then it's far more likely that 13 and the rest will go up too, hope that's not the case, if it is, this thing won't burn out anytime soon. |

If 10 goes up, then it's far more likely that 13 and the rest will go up too, hope that's not the case, if it is, this thing won't burn out anytime soon. The reporting on this is a cluster fuck because the number of tanks on fire has fluctuated so much. You're clearly paying close attention so I'm gonna try to lay out what I'm seeing as I know you'll understand. The most recent update of 8 tanks on fire was corrected to 7 tanks (afternoon update today). Which is the most current report on the number of tanks burning. Had gone up to 8 overnight/early morning, then down to 5 mid-morning and up to 7 as of last report. The 8 that were on fire overnight/early morning were 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 11, 14 & 15. By mid-morning 5 were burning. The 5 burning were 5, 8, 11, 14 & 15 (at this point 2, 3 and 6 had burned off). Image of tank map with labels [link to pbs.twimg.com (secure)] So now they say 7 are burning as of the last update. This includes two that hadn't previously ignited which we're speculating are 7 & 10 from that chopper feed. Also includes two of the previously burned off tanks (so out of 2, 3 and 6 two of them are burning again). Includes 8. And the other two it includes are probably 5 and 11. The blaze is in a section that contains 15 tanks and the number of tanks on fire has varied throughout the incident. Late Tuesday morning, the number was at five. At a news conference Tuesday afternoon, ITC officials initially said eight tanks were on fire, then moments later issued a news release saying the number was seven. The seven includes two tanks previously unaffected (7 & 10?) and two that were reported as being burned out earlier in the day. The remaining three, including the one authorities said was the start of the blaze (8), were on fire earlier. [link to www.chron.com (secure)] ~*Ride the Wave*~ |

I'm gonna lay this out again Thanks for putting that good post together. Also for posting this pic, which I believe you did and which gave all of us an idea of what was burning and where, it was invaluable to me. [link to pbs.twimg.com (secure)] If that graphic can be trusted as true and up to date it looks to me as if: 12 out of 15 tanks in that farm have been involved. 2-8 +11 were burning at the time the graphic was made. 14+15 were burning and have burned out/down. 9+12 were empty and just cooked to melt / collapse. only tanks 1-10-13 remain intact. as we said before (Zebra ref lol) it looks like 10 might go. So far 12 out of 15 tanks in that cluster have either burned down, are burning, or got melted and destroyed. A bomb run should be so successful. I think this is a very good indicator of just what can happen when one these tank farms goes up in smoke. Pretty much everything in a farm / cluster is going to get involved if the tanks are holding flammable petro chems. Pretty eye opening. God work to you! |
