Shen Yun is a beautiful show. I've seen it many times and recommend it to all my friends.

For those of you who don't know about it yet, it's a culture show that covers 5000 years of traditional Chinese culture through music, the most beautiful costumes and incredible dancing.

This is the traditional culture the CCP (communists in China) have pretty much destroyed there.

Good news is if you are outside of China, you can see it in the Americas, Europe and Asia.

I've seen complaints in online reviews about a political message to Shen Yun, but I didn't delve deeper into it. Comments?

The Chinese government hates Shen Yun because it includes scenes showing Beijing's brutal treatment of people who try to practice religion in China.

I am taking my son in April in Spokane. I think its sold out.

Yeah, it's sure political. There have been dance routines that depict the Chinese Communist police coming in and breaking up Falun Gong exercise scenes.

The Communists do not want people to know how violently they treat the Falun Gong people, and when Falun Gong tells people the Commies run around saying Falun Gong is "getting political."

Sheesh.

It is a remarkable show, absolutely remarkable. Worth every penny and more.

Almost. I messed around trying to decide whether to do there or Seattle, and this am I bought tickets and there weren't very many left.

Glad I didn't wait any longer.

It will be earth-shattering when they can finally dance in China!

Shen Yun is not traditional Chinese dance. It is a modernized dance, but costumes make it look traditional.

Shen Yun is the money raising arm of the Falun Gong.

You can bet that there are Chinese Government agents at every performance, following the performers, and watching anyone who talks to the performers.

If the Shen Yun performers went back to China, they would become "involuntary organ donors" like the rest of the Falun Gong.

WOW - that's a significant advertising budget increase. Rumour has it they'll have to add some shows, which means the ad blitz is working nicely.

To think that 5mao here could have stopped it if they'd have just figured out what OP was saying.

Did you notice something different? A friend who's made about this show [like, obsessed] went to the post-blitz show and the program has changed slightly. They added a new piece on Tibet and Uyghur genocide, and there's a pretty big intel hint in the Uyghur segment.

I heard what might have been a reference to that in the ad itself, though I'm not sure since I've never seen the post-blitz version. Even in the pre-blitz version there were some easily-spottable Chinese agents in the audience already; now there will probably be one for every regular attendee lmao.

I don't know why they think everyone doesn't see them. They're always super-pale and never smile and are pecking away endlessly on their phones with grim desperation.
