They are believed to originate in the area around Sweden and Denmark. I grew up thinking English spun out from the German language. In actuality it did not. Both come from an older root language but evolved separately, influenced by the surrounding locale. Here's a question for you OP: does any other language in Eurasia capitalize their nouns? |
