Yes, I know it was a movie but I have a few questions about what was presented.
For discipline the Pvt. was given water and vitamins for a week. Is this done by the marines? I never heard of such a thing.
No military service teaches about unlawful orders. When the Pvt. asked at the end of the movie, what it was that they had done, that was wrong. I just knew that you followed an illegal order was not going to be the answer.
An E-2 and E-3 were on trial. A military jury needs to have members who outrank the defendants. I saw and 0-3, 0-5, and a 0-6 on that jury. There were a lot of other senior people on that jury.
The doctor had given a profile that restricted the Pvt. to not running more than five miles. WOW!
Quoting: Ascension Now Don't know what is legal now, the military like society has gone soft but "back in the day" larger US Navy ships had brigs (jail). I witnessed one trouble maker sent to the brig on bread and water for 1 week. Interesting that did not change him, got out of the brig, caused more problems and was dishonorably discharged.
