Some context if you're not familiar: Brazil is a BRICS member and China is their main trade partner and they have been friendly with Russia for many decades and largely anti-american and communist/socialist. Bolsonaro is a newly elected right-wing populist and wants to partner with America and Trump to change the direction of his country through trade and common goals/ideology into a modern capitalist country and to cooperate in liberating Venezuela. For better or worse hes all in. That's a very rare thing for another's countrys leader to do publicly.. Yeah the Left has both done well and shot themselves in the foot covering up Trumps reputation in the business world. Trump was a titan of a salesman. Like Zig Zigler level. (But not particularly nice like Zig) Thinking a salesman is stupid kind of helps a salesman in a lot of ways. Here's the wealthy ass investor lady from Shark Tank talking about how Trump came in and stole this huge deal from the Chinese she and everyone wanted back in the day. She calls him the best salesman she's ever seen, and she's pretty damn salty herself. The idea of someone they're calling the 'South American Trump' who is now President of the strongest country in South America and former Chinese and Russian socialist ally getting in bed with the CIA, and not hiding it, to go after Venezuela makes my head spin. This is kind of uncharted territory. Last Edited by Merit on 03/19/2019 08:36 PM • Don't tell me the moon is shining; show me the glint of light on broken glass. • |

If Bolsonaro is able to create jobs and growth, solve problems in education and public services, then no chance for the stupid socialists. The stock market is already hitting new records. There's nothing but upside for the US in having Brazil on our team, or at least not naturally opposed in so many areas like before. I worry about what happened to Argentina when Macri tried to embrace capitalism and get away from socialism though. Argentina is gettimg killed by inflation and getting in big debt to the IMF. Granted Brazil is in better shape economy wise but I don't have anyone but Argentina to compare Brazil to in South America. Everyone else is basically primitive third world. China is still their biggest trade partner. This just gives America access and a chance to replace China as their biggest trader. As long as they're still part of BRICS I'll view them kind of like a small version of India. • Don't tell me the moon is shining; show me the glint of light on broken glass. • |
