Canadian Government Moves To Increase Taxes On Cannabis Products

and beginning in May, all cannabis oils, edibles and concentrates or extracts will be taxed according to how much tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, they contain.

My views on the Fed Gov not getting enough taxes for the past 2 quarters.

1. Supply issues - HC (Health Canada) has a stack of licenses in various stages of review but don't have the organization or manpower (wups, peoplepower...lol) to complete them in a timely manner. Hence, that leads to large producers continually waiting for their licenses to build/grow/process/sell.

2. Retail Stores - Alberta is the only Province that did it right...they provided retail licenses to the private market. Ontario would have kicked A$$ if the liberal gov there (at the time of the new legislation) wanted to control the entire market through their OCS (Ontario Cannabis Stores) and their online portal.

Since the new Conservatives are in now, they are starting to open that market up but as of today, only 25 licenses have been given (via lottery) and they are supposed to open their stores on April 1. In other eastern provinces there are a few stores per province yet some of them have already laid off, reduced employee hours or even store hours due to the lack of supply.

3. International Markets - the current BIG players in the Canadian Cannabis industry understand the tax burdens very well and they are in business to make money. Why sell your product to the gov at i.e. $5/gr wholesale when you can get 7-10/gr wholesale in the international markets. So the BIG guys limit their supply to the Canadian market.

First of all - they don't need a reason to raise taxes - they do it because they feel there is too much liquid cash in the bank accounts of the masses.
Second - the cost of implementing the selling of weed, the regulation of it, the inspectors they've hired, the lawyers they've consulted, all of it - is as usual - probably 10 times higher than what they projected.
Canadian government is the mob. They control the gambling, the alcohol and the drugs. Soon they will license the hookers.

Pricing per pound of decent kush's and whatnot $17-1800.00 per in the black market/grey market. For unique/rare $19-2300.00 so do the math and don't pay the fricking tax. I should write them and say, I'll enter the 'white' market when you take away sin taxes on smokes and booze. Fuckers.

1 gr of weed is 1000mg. So if a strain is 20% THC, that would be 200mg?. For the concentrates...the number skyrockets.

1 gr of concentrate (shatter/oil/dab, etc) usually have very high THC levels (i.e +90%) so a 1gr of concentrate would be 900mg x $0.01 = $9.00 extra...on top of the regular taxes...wholly shyt.

1lb of the good stuff for $19-2300...that is 16oz...dam that would last me a full year easy.

There is no limit to home storage. The only limit is the # of plants (4). So if you're good, and can give your babies a really good veg...4 plants at even 3 crops per year would yield pounds of home grow.
